Week 3: Let’s Create

This post is part of the Reset Series. We got honest, found our baseline, and made an edit. Now it's time to create. What do we want to call into our life? What would light our soul on fire if you could feel it with our animal?

Okay, now the fun, daydreaming part. We’ve done a release or an edit of ourselves and our relationship with our animal. Now let’s take a second to think about what we want to create within our relationship. You might say a strong bond or connection, but what does that mean to you? Sometimes, when we’re too vague or make a blank statement like that, we might say it, but it still won’t match what we had in mind. The universe is trying to help you create your desire, but if you say a strong bond, you might already have that in a way, so nothing will change. Be specific about exactly what you want to create!!

Side note

It is also a time to be honest with yourself about what you want in this period of your life. What you wanted 2 years ago, last year, or even last month may not align with what you want now. What I want to create is being more in tune with my horse’s emotions and movement through my body. This would also be the foundation of our strong competitive relationship. I have realized I really thought I knew what I wanted. I thought this was my year to get back into barrel racing, go back to jackpots, and find my groove again, so to speak. However, the more I thought about it and pushed for that vision, the more I realized it wasn’t what I truly wanted or aligned with what I want to create right now. Saying that was really hard, but that one thing has been a part of my goals I have been working towards my whole life. Part of me is just in shock... but it’s not what I want or need. I want something at a slow pace, no pressure. I started to get back in tune with my horses, and it was not going well. They were standoffish. I am not going to lie. I was getting a little frustrated because I thought, in my head, why don’t they want to connect with me anymore? It wasn’t me. It was my energy. In the back of my mind, I was thinking about when I could have them ready and what events I could enter, which made my body tense because I was already putting pressure on myself that my body couldn’t take, and they could feel it. In their own wise, loving way, they were trying to whisper to me that this is not your path.

I am not saying this is going to be something everyone recognizes. I am just sharing what aligns with me in the space I am in. Maybe you’re the complete opposite. Maybe you realize you want to compete again, try a new sport, or you just want to do groundwork and connect with your horse... no one knows but you. It could even be about communicating with them on a deep level. I am just saying to take a second to figure out what you want and what your horse wants together. It may be exactly what you thought, or it may come out of left field. But do it for you two because you want to. Please try not to let others, expectations, or what you think is expected of you affect your decision. No one knows what you truly want until you express it, so don’t get upset if everyone in your life is not on board all at once. Give it time.

How do you figure out what you truly want to create.

Well, it’s a lot about getting quiet with you and your horse. Start by writing down everything that comes to mind. Then ask how it makes you feel and how your body feels. Is the voice loud or quiet? Is it pushy or soft and steady? Or just let it write. There’s something magical about writing. Sometimes it feels random, but often your true feelings start to come out on the page. Another way is through movement. It helps clear your mind and release excess energy so what’s in your heart can whisper. Whatever works for you is fantastic. No 2 people work the same, nor should they. Life would be way too boring. I think one of the most important steps, though, is to set your intention before you start. It centres your mind, body, and soul on what you are truly seeking.

You can do this by yourself or by spending time with them, feeling their energy and finding what feels aligned with you both. Time spent with them is a beautiful thing. I truly think we just need intentional time and time to just be.

Okay, I wrote most of this post months ago, but something felt missing, and I didn’t know what. It was me. I wasn’t truly ready to do my reset. I got clear on what wasn’t me anymore, but I hadn’t dove deep into what was aligned with me now. One thing about not knowing If you let life happen it will start to show you or give you clues. If I’m being honest, nothing has worked out as I thought, but I have learned so much in the process. I was truly meant to go back to basics and my roots, to build my ability to connect and trust myself so I can open that channel with my own horses, like I do for everyone else. See, I got what I was looking for, but at the time I was looking too small, like I had blinkers on, unable to see the whole picture.

You may be wondering, isn’t this a reset for you and your horse? So far, I have only talked about inner work. That is the basics. Start on the same page, feel aligned in the present moment, and then build from there. Your external world reflects your inner world. Also, no one feels what you are feeling inside more than your horse. Let’s meet them where we are now! Time spent with your horse will build a connection on some level, but I am doing this to help you form a bond that can’t be broken at the deepest level. As always, thanks for coming along for the ride with me.

With light and love,

Whit
